Announcement of the event "In touch with my cultural heritage" in the context of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

 

On Tuesday 3rd of December 2019, was held the event "In touch with my cultural heritage" in the context of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, in co-operation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General Secretary for Public Diplomacy, Religious and Consular Affairs Mr Konstantinos Alexandris, under the auspices of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Diamataris Antonios.

At this important cultural event, we were honored by the presence of our Board of Directors, President of the Board of Directors Mr. Mpassias Emmanouel, the Vice-President Mr Zakkas Fotios, the Vice-President Mrs. Roukoutaki Georgia, the General Secretary Mrs Katsarou Dimitra, the Members of the Board of Directors Mr Lekkas Christos, Mr Koromilas Christos, and Mrs Tzevelekou Maria. On behalf of the Directorate of the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece attended the General Manager Mr Karkoulias Georgios and the Manager of Social Welfare Mrs Mila Georgia.

On Behalf of the State, attended the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Diamataris Antonios, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Fragkogiannis Konstantinos, the General Secretary for Public Diplomacy, Religious and Consular Affairs Mr Konstantinos Alexandris, the Deputy Minister of Labor Mrs Mihailidou Domna, representative of the Deputy Regional Governor of Attica Mr Patoulis Georgios was the Deputy Vice-Regional Governor Mr. Peppas Nikolaos and the Deputy Vice-Regional Governor of Southern Sector Mrs. Nanou Dimitra.

On behalf of the Greek Guide Dogs attended the President Mrs Geroulanou-Christopoulou Zoi.

Representatives of the Embassies of Egypt, Australia, Albania, Germany, Canada, Korea, Hungary, Ukraine, Jordan, Panama and Austria honored us as well by their presence.

The event was also attended by Mr. Evangelou Elias, a member of the Board of Directors of our longtime supporters American Friends of the Blind in Greece, our partners and suppliers Mr. Bazigos Nikolaos and Mr. Oikonomou Georgios, and our partner Mr. Milionis Apostolos. Assistant Professor at the University of Piraeus.

The event began with a warm welcome of our guests at the Tactual Museum, which were welcomed by the President of the Board of Directors Mr. Mpassias Emmanuel, followed by speeches by political representatives. The speech was continued by former President of the Board of Directors and Director of the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece, Ms. Asideri Dimitra which welcomed and presented the unique Tactual Museum to our guests, by urging them to touch the exhibits. Afterwards, they had the opportunity to attend part of the Tactual Museum's educational program by closing their eyes and touching on the exhibits, thus approaching in a different way the grandeur, wealth and aesthetic perfection of the treasures of our cultural heritage, as a symbolic move in the context of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

 

 

After the activities at the Museum, a reception followed in the central hall of the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece, next our theatrical group presented an excerpt from the play "FASTA  ... or the lost daughter of Boost" and our dance group, presented traditional dances from the region of Thessaly.

The event was attended by prominent personalities from the cultural and political world and carried out successfully, by highlighting the need to establish even more similar collaborative efforts.

We especially thank the General Secretary for Public Diplomacy, Religious and Consular Affairs Mr Konstantino Alexandri for their excellent organizing and support as well as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Fragkogianni Konstantino and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Diamatari Antonio.
