Visit to the exhibition ‘Τhe forest below the Road’

On May 11, 2016 the lighthouse for the blind in cooperation with the Eugenides Foundation, participated through an organized visit to the exhibition ‘The Forest below the Road ', of the Natural History Museum of the Petrified Forest in Lesvos with the 15 members of the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece (visually impaired and their escorts).
The participants had the opportunity to get information about the history of volcanic eruptions, which destroyed the vegetation and through the process of fossilization led to the creation of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos. In addition, the tour became more interactive, focusing on the tactual contact with the broken and detached parts of petrified logs conifer and angiosperm trees like pine, oak, redwood, palms, and volcanic rich horizons in a wide variety of species, cinnamon, walnut, indicating the existence of extensive subtropical forests.
