“Program of Provision of Social Care for Vulnerable Groups of Blind”

- Within the framework of the statutory objectives of the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece and thanks to the John S. Latsis’ Public Benefit Foundation support, our Social Services Department launched in 2015 the specialized "Providing Social Care for Vulnerable Groups of Blind Programme".

Focusing on vulnerable groups of the population, such as newly blinded, elderly and young people, mostly unemployed or without professional training, the project covered both the need for provision of substantial support on practical and psychological basis, but also for social awareness and elimination of social exclusion phenomena.

The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation fully supported the implementation of the program above, by covering salary and operating expenses.

“Development of skills and promotion to the labor market of blind and visually impaired people Program”.

- Thanks to the John S. Latsis’ Public Benefit Foundation support the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece launched in 2016-2017 the ‘Development of skills and promotion to the labor market of blind and visually impaired people» innovative Program, aiming to young unemployed or even working people -with the need of enforcing their qualifications and dexterities- and of course newly-blinded people –with the need to be professionally (re)orientated.

 Ιts aim was the creation of special educational and training programs, the interface with the labor market and the creation of new job opportunities, given the need for establishing good practices for the extinction of social and professional exclusion phenomena.
